A Slightly Pregnant Man (France, 1973)
Original French title: L'Événement le plus important depuis que l'homme a marché sur la Lune A.K.A. A Slightly Pregnant Man
Director: Jacques Demy. Stars: Catherine Deneuve, Marcello Mastroianni, Mireille Mathieu...
A pretty bad movie. A boring comedy wherein Mastroianni’s character gets pregnant, with the obvious “jokes”. How does junk like this get made?
Anyway, there’s a bar the characters hang out at in a couple of scenes, and there are two pretty-new-at-the-time Gottlieb machines... Jungle (Gottlieb, 1972) and King Rock (Gottlieb, 1972)...
Jungle on the left, King Rock on the right...
Playing King Rock...
On the top part of the Jungle backbox is printed Interdit aux moins de 16 ans [Prohibited for those under 16 years old]. In some scenes there’s also an advertisement for “Long John scotch whisky” sitting atop the backbox. It fits perfectly, as if it were made for that... I’m not sure if that was a thing... I haven’t seen any other examples of that...
